Praised for providing security and safety for the city of Detroit, Project Green Light operates over 2,000 facial recognition cameras at gas stations, retail stores, youth centers, funeral homes, and public housing units, broadcasting a 24 hour video feed to the Detroit police department. After repeated misidentifications and the wrongful arrest of local citizens, community organizers and activists are questioning who this network of surveillance and control is supposed to keep safe.
